In 1995, The Karl Hendricks Trio released the album “A Gesture of Kindness,” featuring cover art by the acclaimed artist Chris Ware (Acme Novelty Library, Jimmy Corrigan, Building Stories).
Twenty years later, Karl faces medical bills after surgery for oral cancer, and Chris Ware has generously donated the original artwork from this album to help Karl pay those bills.
The pieces (four sides in all) that are up for auction (the front and back of the original album art) measure approximately 18″ to 20″ square with three hand-drawn color separations and blue pencil / ink on drafting vellum taped down to each board.
This is an exceptionally rare opportunity to own a series of one-of-a-kind pieces of Chris Ware art.
Also included in the extensive packaging are a few small hand-written notes from Ware himself.
